April 2011 Monthly Challenge: "Easter"
« on: March 31, 2011, 09:04:44 PM »
A day early since I'll be quite busy tomorrow, the challenge is Easter and the possibilities are limitless.

Easter can conjure images or a holiday feasts, spring time and spring colors, chocolate, marshmallows, chicks, bunnies, eggs.

What will you do with it?  Let's get a lot of people involved this time.

grilled chicken, roasted rabbit, diced egg, and marshmellow filling?
Hotdogs kill more people than sharks do, yearly.

That's the great thing about the challenge, whatever you can come up with.

I've never actually had sliced lemon on pizza. What's it like?

My entry has 2 elements from the challenge. Green for Spring - the sauce is a bunch of fresh jalapeño chiles, garlic, salt, sugar, & vinegar chopped into a course sauce in the food processor. If your taste buds are dead or dormant, this zesty, powerful sauce will bring them back to life. Booyah!

Looks delectable.

Whats the second element after green?

Is it resurection? (Forgive my slowness on this subject... I'm Jewish!)

Rebirth - could mean resurrection, but I meant the return to life after winter hibernation or dormancy.

Sort of a deconstructed Torta Pasqualina.  Sauteed swiss chard and red onion with salt, pepper and nutmeg.  Ricotta, a bit off mozz and some pancetta. To be honest, too much going on.  Excuse the photo.....still waiting for sunlight at supper time.

And of course, some egg (barely hard boiled).  Gotta have the fertility thing going on!

Paul, it is going to be tough to beat that one for literal interpertation of the challenge. That is Italian Easter Pizza. Very cool.

DKM,

Do you want to accept my pizza I did for the challenge last year in April at Reply 3 http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,10648.msg94791.html#msg94791 At least it was a Easter “bunny rabbit”?   :-D That experiment for the challenge went wrong because I couldn’t find my edible silver glitter.  Seriously, if I have time I would like to summit a entry to this months challenge.  I was thinking about ideas, but didn’t have time to use them.   :-\

A few minutes after I had just posted, I remembered I almost had a “Easter” pizza challenge ready.  I had baked a preferment Lehmann dough skin at market Tuesday and let it balloon, then cut the skin in half and put Nutella inside the baked skin.  I brought the extra pieces of that pizza home and kept them in the refrigerator, probably going to get thrown out.  I just whipped those slices out of the refrigerator, dusted some confectionary sugar on, place a few pieces of Easter candy on top and added a few spring colored sprinkles.  I got some spring house cleaning done by removing those slices from my refrigerator and also am now able to enter this months challenge for “Easter”.  This was the easiest monthly challenge I have done so far. Saved more time for Easter, too.  ;)
