I'm going to try to make my first dessert pizza. I'm thinking something with strawberries? Any suggestions?

Idreamofpizza,

There was a monthly challenge for “dessert pizzas” in September of 2009 and some delicious looking dessert pizzas in the thread at http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,9190.0.html

I also tried some more dessert pizzas if you are interested starting at Reply 169 http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,13686.msg139495.html#msg139495 and then at Reply 225 http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,13686.msg140438.html#msg140438

Good luck with your dessert pizza.  :)

See this post for a great one:  http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,14201.msg142283.html#msg142283

You could use butter instead of bacon fat, and you could also add/substitute maple sugar for a nice touch.

Thanks Robyn.  I also forgot to mention that we added some Nutella on the pie after it came out of the oven.   That is very similar to Matthew's pizza nutella e banana he made recently.

How about putting a lot of butter on the skin so it almost "fries" in the oven. Dock it real good so it doesn't puff up any more than necessary. When it's baked, smear strawberry jelly all over it. Add some sliced fresh strawberries, fresh mint leaves, and then dust with powdered sugar. It would look like a margherita.

If you wanted a little more, you could probably also squirt some pastry cream inside the skin after you bake it, especially if you didn't dock it and let it rest for 20 minutes or so before baking.

This one was outstanding; Plantains (super-ripe) fried in butter. Drizzled with nutella and a sprinking of powdered sugar after baking.

I blame the person who introduced me to Nutella on pizza. Who was that??? Oh yeah, it was you, Chau! It is all your fault!

I was kind of thinking strawberry cheesecake topping.  Maybe a sauce blend of cream cheese, sour cream a touch or sugar and maybe an egg - par baked for a few minutes then add glazed strawberries or my favorite Extra-Cherry Pie Filling from Kroger (No High Fructose Corn Syrup) you could even dust it with some graham cracker crumbs.

This post is making me hungry...off to raid the fridge.

One of our favorites is peanut butter pizza.  We bake the crust 1/2 way through and then spread crunchy peanut butter and bake until the peanut butter browns.  For an added treat we add sliced strawberries before final baking.

For another twist take sliced banana's instead of strawberrys, dip them in sugar and put them on the pizza.  They end up brulee'd.

The second favorite is butter and cinnamon sugar.  You dont have to prebake.
