Decided to make a Pizza Rustica. I can still remember the Easter pies my grandmother would make. I'm 75 and and that was over 60 years ago. She was a lousy cook, with exception of the ham and rice pies she would make.
We never got her recipe and we have bought commercially produced pies that never matched up. The one I made comes pretty close and the recipe is from the New York Times.
I followed the recipe and added Italian sausage, only because that is one of the ingredients my grandmother used.
The final weight was around 10 pounds.
