Hi,
I'm been reading the forum for the past couple weeks. Where is everyone from? I grew up in Brooklyn, NY but now live in Staten Island, NY. I've loved the pizza here all my life and am actually hoping to maybe open my own in a couple of years. To tell you the truth I'm not really sure how to make an authentic NY pizza ...yet. I've already bought my kitchen aid mixer, bought Dominick DeAngelis' book, ordered a pizza stone, peel, and have started spying...err.. watching the pizza guys in the neighborhood to watch how they work the dough and bake it, while I eat one of their pizzas.

Welcome to the site!!

I'm from Richmond, Virginia but have lived in various places over the years, including Champaign, Illinois (I visited Chicago regularly for pizza!) and Connecticut (only a commuter train away from Manhattan and genuine NY style pizza!)

I've been living in Hamburg, Germany since 1982.

I grew up in Ridgewood, New York (Queens). Lived upstate in Barryvile, New York (Sullivan County). Also in Tampa & New Port Richey, Florida and a very short time in Ohio.

Been around quite a bit.

I guess my follow up question is, does anyone here own a pizzeria or is it a hobby for everyone. For me, it's just a hobby but I'm really wanting to make a career change in 2 years from the IT field. That's how I spend all day on the computer and am able to find great sites like this.

Really though pizza seems so much more easier to deal with than CIO, VP's and Directors!

Never owned, but have worked in the pizza business. Still do some consulting from time to time. I am in IT currently with Pizza as one of my cooking hobbies, BBQ and Candy being others.

Wow, no one out of the States.....I'm from Canada. Eh? I live in Toronto, Canada where I grew up. Pizza's alright here, theres always the Pizza Hut and some other Pizza places. Right now theres alot of Halal* Pizza shops....I never eat there, I'm still putting a lot of trust into the multimilion dollar Pizza corporations out there.
