Pizza on the brain

« on: December 29, 2007, 11:53:03 AM »

Hi,
We're doing some kitchen remodeling, part of the decorating theme is pizza (!!).  We need a few "pizza sayings" or wisdom to artfully paint on the walls.  Something along the lines of "pizza is to be eaten with fingers only"

Been googling, but most of what I'm finding is celebrity quotes on pizza (like Yogi Berra asking to have the pizza cut in four pieces because he's not hungry enough to eat eight).

Anyone know of some more we could use?  Looking for short sayings, probably going to use some kind of stencils to get it on the wall.  We did this in our last house using Italian translation of "Live well, laugh often, love a lot," which worked out very well.  But hoping to use some more pizza oriented sayings.
Thanks,
Tim Giambra

Not to put a damper on what sounds like a fun idea, but you do know that in Italy, particularly Naples, pizza is eaten with a fork and knife - at least in sit-down pizzerias?

"When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie - that's amore"

Old-World Tradition. Modern Tastes

While not all short, here's a few of my favorites;

You Have Fallen Into One of The Classic Blunders. First is Never Start a Land War in Asia. Second & Only Slightly Lesser Known, is Never Enter Into a Battle of Wits With an Italian When Pizza is on The Line!

Let's Face it. A Truly Great Slice is Better Than a $500 Meal at a Famous Restaurant.

There are few things in the world that you just can't have too much of. In addition to currency, I would mention, ice cream, health, warm weather, pizza, free time, 2nd chances, & good taste.

Pizza is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

You can't be a real country unless you have good pizza and an airline - it helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need good pizza.

This saying is from General Mills Flour:
"A scratch crust to a pizza operator is like the signature to John Hancock;
it will create a lasting impression for your customer

We have a small sliver of a wall near the pantry.  The wall has always been the location where we hang the calendar.  Under the calendar we stenciled our families favorite foods in different fonts that we felt matched the style of the food.

On an opposite wall, "There is nothing like good food, good wine, and a bad girl.-fortune cookie."

The color of the letters match an adjacent room.

Pizza on the brain

Here's what we ended up with.  We were going to have a bunch of sayings, but decided to go with just one basic love/pizza (which I thought was a good combination).  It looks good from afar (jpg is zoomed in pretty good).  Will now get some good pizza art to hang beneath it and mount the peels to showcase them.

Thinking about this for the pizza art:

Other suggestions would be welcome.

I saw this one recently and liked it:

Q: "How does a Zen monk know his pizza is enlightened?"
A: "It's one with everything."
