Best Threads with Photos of Pizza
« on: January 27, 2009, 02:45:15 AM »
Hi All,
I'm looking for a few threads that include very good quality photos of the pizza being
discused. I know we plenty of them here but I'm having trouble locating them.
I checked the the pizza gallery but it doesn't serve my purpose.

Reason I'm asking is I'd like to introduce some new people to pizzamaking.com and I'm
looking for the most impressive threads that include pics of delicious mouth watering
pizza.

It's an Earth food. They are called Swedish meatballs. It's a strange thing, but every sentient race has its own version of these Swedish meatballs! I suspect it's one of those great universal mysteries which will either never be explained, or which would drive you mad if you ever learned the truth.

what kind of pizza ?

The typical kinds found on the east coast (NY/NJ/PA area) would be ideal.
But not really limited to just that. Any thread that has good quality pizza
pics combined with interesting discussion.

Another way to look at it is what are the most impressive threads
here on pizzamaking.com that also have a series of pics.

I would nominate this one as an excellent ambassador for the site because:

a) The pictured pies were baked in a regular home oven, and are thus heartening to those who can't take any extraordinary measures (tricked-out/esoteric ovens, etc.) to make their own pizza.

b) The technical level of discussion alerts the reader to the fact that the site isn't peopled by blowhards repeating hearsay, half-digested notions, and the like, but by serious and knowledgable aficionados and experts, inspiring confidence in the site.

Just a week before I discovered the Forum and saw that thread for the first time, over drinks a brother of mine and I were discussing the shocking, across-the-board decline of local pizzerias and whether it would even be possible to make a decent pie at home. I recall at one point saying something like: "perhaps at this point it's best to just let the pizza we used to get fade into memory and move on to something else". Seeing that thread made me realize that making it myself was possible and inspired me to give it a shot, and it may have a similar effect on others.

Thank you for your consideration!! I am Truly Honored Pete!
I agree with making this a sticky (Not sure how to do that either) I have been sending a lot of people here but as you know one can easily become lost or overwhelmed when they are just trying to check it out. A quick tour de pies thread or location as Peter has posted would be great for Newbie, OR Oldbie too! ;D Iremember when I came acrss That Villa Roma thread and thought WOW I have to kick it up a notch to hang around here! Not sure if that the case, but I still here and lovin it!

To have near-term value to pete, I put the above post together fairly quickly, relying mostly on memory where I could quickly find the photos to assemble into the list. I am sure that there are many more pizzas and photos that are equally good and could have been included in the list. I also wanted to demonstrate the diversity of our members' talents in making the different styles. I would be surprised if pete's friends weren't impressed.

pete,

Maybe in the interest of being "fair and balanced" we should come up with a list of the ugliest pizzas. I'll leave that list to someone else to put together :-D.
