You're kidding right? You're saying that these people who willingly worked at this store for whatever they got paid and willingly put up with whatever customers did were somehow "pushed" into this behavior?

So a waitor that is paid $2/hr that gets stiffed on a tip because the customer was a jerk should then take it out on the food they prepare and serve?

WOW! Its thinking like this that makes this sort of behavior not only in the realm of thought but actually occuring.  Angry

If you read my post you'll see that I said this does not justify this behavior just that things like that is what makes someone who may not normally do such a thing be a complete idiot and do this.

As for the customer's keeping them in a job yes sure, but people work at these places generally not because they want to but because you need money to live on. There are plenty of people who wouldn't mind working at these places if the price was right but that is not the case the employees are generally overworked, underpaid and underappreciated. All of these things make it alot easier for a normally logical human being to be a complete fool. Once again I am not condoning what these idiots did this type of crap is completely unacceptable, all I'm trying to point out is that treating your servers/employees like crap doesn't help situations like this it just makes them more likely to happen.

Well, maybe they will all think twice if some of them start getting prosecuted and sent to jail for a while.. In this ecconomy, there are plenty of people willing to work for the money they are getting paid at these places.

I agree these people need to be prosecuted, but just because there are a lot of desperate individuals out there doesn't make it right for employers to use and abuse their employees and it surely doesn't make it right for the customer to treat them like dirt either. I worked in food service as a teenager. Though it was a nicer restaurant and the employees actually ate there on their days off which usually shows a better quality restaurant. But I got to see first hand how employees are abused. Saw customers run up couple hundred dollar checks and leave $2 for the waitress who was bending over backwards for them. Seen customers come in 5 min to close and stay 2-3 hours and then leave crap for a tip. These things may not seem like much but these people have lives too, and if someone came to your work expecting you to work 2-3 hours over your normal schedule you'd be ticked if not say you couldn't. The customer service industry as a whole gets screwed over and it wears on people. Now these cases are isolated as most people don't act like this.

I think that anyone who ever eats at a restaurant should be forced to work in the food service industry for a period of time to make them understand what they put these people through. Usually the best tippers, best customers in general are those who have worked in these fields before and understand.

I'm sorry.. I have owned and do own several businesses and as they are all service oriented (not food service) I understand customers and the need to keep the customer happy and also dealing with bad customers. However, what you are saying still sounds like some sort of justification and I don't think you want it to, but it does. Not only have these employees caused dominos as a corporation harm, they have also harmed other dominos employees. Just as one bad employee can ruin any business, I have no problem firing and if necessary filing charges against any employee that jeopordises my business for ANY reason. It is not a right to have a job, it is a privelege. You work at the desire of your employer and if you don't like it, you have the option to quit. The sooner people realize that, the better.

Oh, My God... Roll Eyes

You all take this sooo too seriously!!! Laugh

If everyone keeps up the hate for fast food... (here is the 'real' scary part) Then they will all start to go bankrupt, And then congress will 'come on in' and give the fast food industry a $700,000,000 bailout... And then you all will have to 'pay' for fast food even if you don't eat it... Tongue

You missed a few 0's on that number Trinity. I figure at least 1 maybe even 2. But in reality McDonald's was one of the few companies that was posting profit increases during this "downturn", though you can't judge the industry by the most profitable.

The Domino's whose employees posted the video prank on YouTube as reported in this thread has closed Sad : http://www.charlotteobserver.com/breaking/story/973685.html.

Infamous Domino's location closes doors

CONOVER -- The Domino’s Pizza store that captured national attention after fake videos were posted on YouTube has closed its doors.

Closed signs have been placed in the windows and the phone has been disconnected.

Two former employees at the Conover store allegedly made a video of themselves tampering with food while at work -- breaking a number of sanitation laws in the process -- and posted it on the popular video-sharing site. The video showed two people sneezing on food, putting food in their noses and then on a pizza, and performing other unsanitary actions. The video received worldwide attention.

The employees, Kristy Hammonds, 31, of Taylorsville and Michael Anthony Setzer, 32, of Conover were charged with contaminating food. Setzer's brother, Chase Setzer, told WCNC that the video was meant as a joke.

Tim McIntyre from Domino’s Corporate says the employees of that store have been victimized by their co-workers and have all lost their jobs because of the prank.

McIntyre also says other Domino’s pizza stores in the area, including Charlotte, have felt the impact of the video.

I think that I may be eating in a little more often for a while.

A Google search found the archived video on the following website. If you are curious, you can view or download the full video of the stunt as it was pulled from youtube almost at the outset.

What was the reason for the video being pulled?

What was the reason for the video being pulled?

I'm sure it was the usual legal exposure. Our society is far too litigious. When Google bought youtube for $1.65B, they set aside some 200 million dollars for expected copyright lawsuits alone. I'm sure that they don't want to court (sorry, bad pun) additional unnecessary ones.
