Looks like I may be able to open an account with Roma in Dallas as a homebased propriertorship!  They have everything that we long for throughout this forum.  I'm going to place an initial small order but wanted some advice.  For the cheese - looks like all Grande options are available.  I've had WM before and liked it but it has been a long time.  I'm looking for the cheese not to oil much, want alot of stretch and salty or unique flavor; which would you go for PS/Prov or East Coast Blend?  Next, the tomato's - I do not like sweet but tomatoee which I can add Penzey Pizza spice to; they have Escalon and Stanislaus products plus others.  I know that much of this is personal preference but when you buy wholesale there is ALOT of product so I would appreciate opinions.  Looking for classic NYC style and taste.  Thanks.

Just made my first pickup this morning Grin.  Very easy to set up the account as a small business, just have to pay cash.  25 lbs All-Trump for $9.99, 30 lbs Grande East Coast Blend for $69.84.  They have all the tomatoes varieties but the quantities are 6 #10 cans which is way too much for me.  I also picked up Patrick Cudahy spicy 38mm pepperoni - only sold as 2 12.5 lb packages for $70; Shocked yikes! anyone one in the DFW area who wants a 12.5 lb bag let me know.  I'll keep everyone posted on how the cheese and pepperoni last in the freezer.

Pete W,

Can you tell me what a "homebased proprietorship" means from the standpoint of purchasing items from Roma?

Pete

I'll send you some info later that explains what I did. I was surprised how easy it was and did not cost anything to get started.

Pete W:

Roma has an office here in Houston as well.  I assumed they wouldn't talk to me, but I've never heard of a 'homebased proprietership'.  I'd also like some details on how to set one up.

Thanks,
Andy

I used the term "Homebased Propriertorship" to indicate a singly owned business using your home as the base of operation.  You can create any business name you choose as long as you file a DBA with your county (mine cost $20 for the filing).  On the application I simply used my SSN as the tax ID which Roma had no problem with and is recognized by the IRS for business filings for sole proprietorships.  The Roma rep was very helpful and I provided full disclosure so as to not misrepresent myself.  I indicated this as a startup business without the need to indicate what type of business.  Very simple and painless process.

Hope this helps.

Pete,

Thanks for the info.  My wife has filed a DBA for her piano studio.  I'll try using it to set up an account with Roma.  If it works, I'll throw a pizza party for her students.

Who did you talk to at Roma in DFW?

I've been trying to find a restaurant-quality source for cheese and pepperoni to make NY Style, but have had no luck so far.
