I am looking to open my own pizza place and I had some questions on how much the food costs will be.

I need to know about the costs of, and how much, I would roughly need of:

cheese
flour
yeast
olive oil
butter
sauce

Any help would help greatly.

Thanks in advance,

Hi JFP009, welcome. Take no offense here, but I would take my time opening a business right now and start with a vo-tech college and try out a couple food management courses so you can get the latest, most up to date info on food/restaurant management. Nothing to step into on a whim since most fail within their first year or two of opening. Just my opinion, and I was raised in the restaurant business.

Jackitup,

Thanks for your advise, no offense taken, i have been working in restaurants for the last 7 years, but never as a manager so I guess a class couldn't hurt none.  Did you and your family run a pizza business?

First things first. Find a foodservice distributor locally that can answer your cost questions. If you work in a restaurant, ask the chef/manager to see his/her weekly order guides/usage reports to see what costs are.

Foodservice distributors are happy to help, that's what they are there for. I wouldn't rely on what Joe Blow in Wherever, USA says he spends on mozzarella to build a business plan. Get detailed, specific, accurate info from your local market for your basis. Otherwise you will end up another negative statistic.

I am blunt and please donnot take it personally.
Have you ever worked in a pizza store? If you have not before. That's a good start.
Things like Oven and mixer walk-in frig, all that is about $30000-$40000
Your first inventory like:
Flour, Oil, yeast...... is about $3000.
After a month you get the idea as to how much inventory needed on hand. But the first one you need to have more than what you think.
