I was all set up to make a video of a pizza baking in the WFM. It took a while, but I had the camera in the perfect position with the ideal settings to record the bake. Then:

1. Shaped and topped pizza as normal.
2. Placed pizza on peel
3. Lifted peel, swinging it around towards oven
4. Peel collided with camera mount
5. Peel stopped moving
6. Pizza continued moving towards oven
7. Enough of the pizza stayed on the peel to save the dough
8. Toppings where everywhere, fortunately none landed on camera
9. Dogs moved in quickly to remove any toppings that landed on floor. They were very happy even though I was swearing.
10. Made a calzone of whatever I could recover
11. Baked it just long enough on deck of WFM so that crust did not burn too much - inside still raw.
12. Wrapped in aluminum foil, placed on rack in oven for a few minutes
13. Best calzone ever!

Gotta try this again soon!

Bill,
That's a great post!  Grin The method sounded just astonishing. Well, I was having some friends over yesterday so I thought, since I'm serving and cooking, that I'd dress the part as a gag. Into my waiter shirt I went, and well, the gag was on me. Let me be the first to say there is serious room for error and unexpected mishaps in your step by step instructions. I was going good for awhile, here's my accounting.

1. Shaped and topped pizza as normal.
2. Placed pizza on peel
3. Lifted peel, swinging it around towards oven
4. Peel collided with camera mount
5. Peel stopped moving
6. Camera mount started moving.
7. Hot oil pan on stove (making onion rings) struck by camera mount.
8. Oil hit burner, all guests ran for their cars as kitchen went ablaze.
9. I altered "personal calzones" menu and quickly formed one massive instead, stuffed accordingly, basted with evoo and a sprinkle of garlic powder.
10. No need to place in oven, just simply left the room for 4-5 minutes.
11. Ran back in, peel in hand, threw it on tray, and headed out again.
12. Offered some to local fire department, no takers, they seemed busy.
13. Ate some myself, verdict: Best Calzone of all time! (I'll miss the house though)

My neighbor got this pic from their window, I'm staying there now.

What do you think the temperature was of the burning house, specifically in the spot where the mega-zone was baked? Perhaps next time they would come out better if your next house was built with different wood that doesn't burn as hot - maybe go for a 8 minute bake to give the FD more time to arrive. Was there enough residual heat in the ruins to bake some bread?

Had my pizza wagon out for a family yard party Saturday.  90+F and super high humidity.  The 63% dough took a beating..........Oh yeah.  To say the least, there were a few calzones.

Well, I know it was hotter that 451 degrees as all my cookbooks burned like flash paper. Now I have no idea how to make a meal in 30 minutes, and a different one every day of the year at that! I'll keep this wood thought in mind on the rebuild. No, no bread was made, all surfaces were unfortunately soaked. I added a little ash to my Jack and Coke though, for that special extra smokey flavor.
