This here is hilarious: There is this German guy who liked deep pan pizza but "the store with the red roof" disappointed him? He turned around and figured out their "secret" recipe for the special dough and now pays them back as he has it put it up online on his website! Check it out, the website looks as if this was a *real* pizza store, but it is all fake.

The recipe is free, and it REALLY works out to the original taste (!) even if you don't have the special ovens and other special equipment. He got it all figured out how to copycat their original recipe at home. I tried it, and it really tastes and feels like the original.

Lars1970,

There is no pizza recipe at the URL you cited, and none could be found using the search box. Please copy and paste the recipe or provide a better link.

Sorry for the confusion. The link works, but it has no "www" in front of it. It won't work if you add the www, you must omit this. The link starts with http-part followed by the address as given "pizza-recipe.bitpalast.net". The forum does not allow me to post the full link. It says I'm a newbie and therefore I am not allowed to post links. Sorry, didn't know before. I'll mail you the full link in a private note, so that you can check it.

Lars1970,

I had tried both URLs and they took me to the same place. I have not yet been able to open the link, http://pizza-recipe.bitpalast.net, you sent to me via PM.

Sorry that it doesn't work for you. Have no idea why it doesn't, it's not my server. When I click the link, it takes me to "Piero's Pizza". Want me to make a screenshot?

Lars1970,

The page just hangs for me and won't open. If you can't copy and paste the recipe, maybe the screenshot will help.

Have attached a screenshot how it looks on my browser. Cannot copy the recipe though, cause this is a multi-step instruction website. It gives all the details and secrets one must know about the production steps. Too bad that this doesn't seem to work for you here. I am sure there are many others like me who were waiting on someone to reveal this to the public for years.

I would caution on just a couple of things:  One, this is not Chicago style, but 1960 Kansas style (where PH originated).  Better to consider this recipe American style.  PH "deep dish" isn't even close to Chicago style.  Two, be careful when putting the salt and yeast together.  The salt can easily kill or reduce the effectiveness of the yeast.  This looks interesting for those who like PH style pizza.  Unfortunately (or fortunately), I am not one of them.  But this may be worthy of experimenting with, which I always support.
