Sourdough Starter
« on: March 21, 2014, 10:24:35 AM »
My sister is a celiac and I am wondering how to make a GF Sourdought Starter as opposed to a regular Sourdough Starter. I'm noticing that alot of the folks on here recommend the SD Starter for GF dough... and I literally have not even started experimenting with GF yet, and I assume the GF SD starter must be completely different.... thanks guys!

For over a hundred years now, bakers have used potato as a basis for their SD starters. If you Google "potato starters in bread production" you will find several options for using potato flakes as the basis for a S.D. starter.

So the process doesn't change for Gluten Free? Cool! I've only used flour based starters I didn't even know a Potato starter was a thing. Thanks Tom!
