I think you mean August, right Peter?

I find it interesting that the forum's most active month also seems to coincide with it's most quarrelsome month.  Perhaps, at least, from an activity perspective, a little controversy may not be all that bad  >:D

I am curious what is going to happen when the posts get to be too many posts for the moderators to look at and keep them all in the right places where they should be?  Did Steve ever plan for that?

Norma,

Steve is aware of this issue and will have to be addressed at some point.

scott123,

Yes, I meant August and have corrected my post. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

There are a lot of things that go into the total post count. I thought, for example, that maybe the members were spending more time talking about pizza instead of making them, and about ovens and non-pizza foods and pizza news. Also, some members, like Chicago Bob and Aimless Ryan, have been posting at a considerably higher rate than they usually do. Maybe you are also right that the recent contentiousness among some of the members has increased the post count. Unfortunately, there is no way to go back to a high volume day, like the 400+ day, to examine the posts more closely to see what caused the big jump in volume.

With a seemingly exponentially increasing server load, I hope backups happen frequently.  It would be a shame to lose any of this forum to bad luck.

The forum has its own dedicated server, and I assume it is hosted in a way that protects everything.

Don,

I might look at every post, but sure wouldn’t be a good moderator.  I haven’t been on the forum since the beginning and there are many posts I never saw.

Bill even had to shoot the warning shot over my head one time.  :-D

I suspect there is a top-secret mod boot camp you have to attend to make sure you are able to withstand the rigors of the position.

Obstacle course
Interrogation resistance training
Hand-to-hand combat
Art of War classroom study

Oh wait, there is one:

That's funny because when I saw your post this morning I was gonna say it was all me and Chicago Bob. But when I noticed that it said July, I decided not to say anything.

I think I have a little to do with that, too. Not so sure about Bob, though. He's too easy to get along with.

Totally not true. You were an innocent bystander, caught in the crossfire, being your usually ultra-courteous self, when a skirmish broke out in your vicinity. The warning shot was NEVER intended for you.

There has been a concomitant increase in traffic among the moderators trying keep this a friendly place. It is even more important than ever to keep a civil tone.

I have been part of several Internet forums, including as a moderator on a few, and this is by far the most civil one.
