I think they all three should be call Poopsalot.     I didn't name them, but if you want to, I will let you have the privilege.    When I clean the cage out, I will call them by name.

In our area the weather was beautiful yesterday, so I was working outside most of the day.  I was taking some dead leaves off of the tomato plants.  I found this one Tomato Hornworm with wasp larvae on.  I also put him into another container, to see if the larvae will turn into wasps.  That poor little guy (the tomato hornworm), looks like he doesn’t have much longer to live.  Last evening I went out to my one shed to get something, after it was dark.  I have big flowers planted in the front of one part of that shed.  I was surprised to see what I think was a Hawkmoth.  I saw the flowers moving and thought, what the heck is going on with that.  This giant thing was buzzing in and out of the flowers.  It had a really big body and it tried to buzz bomb my head.  I screamed and ran into the house.  If it was a Hawkmoth’s, I never saw one of them before, but it sure was scary to me. That bugger can really move fast.  I will be on the lookout to see if I can see another one.

These are two pictures how the two basil cuttings are forming roots and growing.  The first basil plant I cut with a scissors and just placed it in water.  That basil cutting formed roots on the bottom as can be seen in this post. http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,10535.msg108381.html#msg108381

The day I planted this basil cutting in potting soil, I just pinched a part of a basil plant off with my fingers.  That basil plant formed roots up farther on the stem as can be seen in this picture I took this morning.  I don’t know why when using different methods of doing a basil cutting, that the root’s form at different places, but I will watch and see if they both do well, when planted in soil.  Picture below of the first basil cutting, now in potting soil and placed outside.  Second picture of basil cutting I pinched off with my fingers.  I will soon be planting that outside also.

This section inspired me to try the same thing. I had the exact same results, in about the same time frame.

Once Hermine decides to get the heck out of Texas and the sun comes out for a few days to dry it all up, I'll be planting my cuttings to see if they grow.

It's good you had the same results as I did.  I guess Hemine is really giving you rain, by what I see on the weather channel.     Hope your cuttings grow.

That is a lot of rain!  Hope you stay safe and dry.     I can only imagine how much flooding comes from all that rain.

You posted what next.    Well, just yesterday, the one Tomato Hornworm, (that was the second to the largest) developed larvae all over its body.  It is barely alive today.  The other one that had the larvae all over it, also has died.  The smallest one has developed a part cocoon.  The largest one is still alive and eating, but I now wonder if that one will also develop larvae on it’s body.  I am still going to keep the partly alive one in the container to see if the larvae with develop into wasps.  I have seen the Hawkmoth at different times when it is dark, but it is so quick, I can’t get a picture of the Hawkmoth.

I almost feel sorry for the worms - crawling around with the wasp eggs inside them - they're dead and they don't even know it. Once the larve come out, it's lights out as you have seen.

I almost feel sorry for the worms, too.    I didn't realize it could take so long for the larvae to come out from the wasp eggs.  The one that just developed larvae went so fast.  He had looked so healthy the day before. The hornworm that had the larvae on it, when I picked it from the tomato plant is now all white now, so the larvae must still be feeding on what is left, if there is anything left.  The biggest hornworm still looks healthy and does really eat a lot.  He is in a separate container.
