Rega Tomatoes

I just tried some of these tomatoes. They are quite nice.

Wouldn't say they are the best I have ever had, but they are of good quality. The fact that no salt is added to the tomatoes makes it easy to get a consistent sauce from batch to batch

Anyone else tried these?

$7.99 for a single 28-ounce can of tomatoes is a lot, and gets more expensive when you add shipping charges. I also note that salt is listed as an ingredient in the ingredients list (the last ingredient listed).

I asked the seller and that is their standard ingredient list for D.O.P San Marzano's, being nearly all of them have salt in it.

I agree with shipping it gets expensive. The can was definitely more full of tomatoes, with less loose sauce, than some other similarly sized cans sold by other producers. Not sure if their is enough extra toms to justify the increase in cost....

Just bought two 28oz cans of Rega, one with basil, one without (DOP)...for a total of $7.18 or $3.59 each.

Never tried them so this will be a first.

I tried them last weekend, it tasted great. I strained some of the liquid and hand smashed the tomatoes. I didn't add anything to it.

I bought it from a local store in Houston. I don't remember how much I paid for it, it wasn't that high. I still have one can to use this weekend.

I get these from Provvista here in Portland. one dozen 28oz cans for something like $30-40.. They are the best IMO..
