So is all truffle oil made with chemicals, none of them contain any trace of truffles? Could you buy a very small amount of white truffle and make your own oil? I was reading someone bought 3.3 pounds for $330k.

I think that the $330k truffle purchase was just one truffle  :o

To answer your question, you could easily make yer own truffle oil.  I would just peel the outside a bit and use the peelings to flavor the oil.  The actual truffle should be used for a higher purpose, (like as a pizza topping)
pizza, pizza, pizza

It's 30 bucks for a fair amount of truffle at whole foods.

How long would the oil last if I made it myself?

They have truffles at whole foods?

This isn't news....not to mention the truffle fad is a bit overrated anyway.

Black truffles - not white...
I love pigs. They convert vegetables into bacon.
