help with replying to post

I was trying to reply to a thread and wanted to quote a post. When I hit quote and started to type the lines of the quote kept shifting in the reply box after each letter I typed so I could not see as I was typing.

This does not happen in firefox but I prefer IE.

I hope I explained myself clearly. Any idea what is happening?

Funny this happens to me in firefox but not in internet explorer or safari.
