If I added a tube to my oven, i wouldn't be able to duplicate their oven. I do have a convection fan in my oven but it's lower towards the bottom. I wouldn't neccessarily be trying to duplicate how their oven works. A tube in my oven would serve 2 purposes. 1) possibly decrese preheat times and 2) concentrate the heat from the broiler element onto the top of the pie giving a potentially better spring.
I'm not sure when i would have time for this to be honest as i have a lot of dough experiments I want to do and the MBE bakes have been good lately. Just a thought though.
