Suggestion for where to go in New York?
« on: October 25, 2010, 01:33:50 PM »
Hey guys! I know I've only posted a couple times, but I was hoping you could help me with my upcoming trip to New York City in November (Nov 11-14).

I am hoping to visit the most authentic/best pizza place in New York for Neapolitan style pizza.

I know many people on these boards have recommended Una Pizza Napoletana, but their website says they are closed, but reopening in Nov. However, I read online that it was actually being sold by the original owner and won't be the same. Is this true?

So where do you recommend going in New York? Please help!

Thanks :)

Allie

Hey V
Una Pizza Napoletana is indeed gone, but the building and oven have now been taken over by Motorino, who happens to be rated by some as the best NEA pie in NY right now.  So Motorino has 2 locations now, I visited their original last year and IMHO is a must try.
Besides those mentioned by andreguidon, Paulie Gee is a kindered spirit whose newish pizzaria is also top rated.

and luzzos is half a block from motorino manhattan.      Johns and Keste are also right across the street from each other and offer two totally different pizzas.   Keste is neapolitan (like motorino and luzzos) and Johns is classic NY coal oven pizza.
