Greetings to All. Sorry took so long to intro myself & say, HEY !
Born and raised in Jersey.
We used to get this bread when we ordered Italian Hot dogs, or Italian Sausage, at Tommy's in Elizabeth, (still there) or about 30 years ago, A thing called a " Zooger" at the Hillside Pool. For anyone who's never heard of it, it's a 9" round bread, 1-1/2 to 2" thick, with a 1" round hole in the middle. They slice it in half, (look's like 2 quarter moons)
slice inside long ways, like a pita, add pizza sauce, (they didnt put cheese inside for some reason) or from Tommy's, the hot dog, or sausage, & fillings
If anyone knows of a recipe, & technique of this delicious bread, please let me know.
