Brick thickness question
« on: February 01, 2011, 02:42:28 PM »
In my BBQ brick lined oven, I am having a hard time keeping the floor at a low enough temperature between cooking pizza's.  I use half thickness firebricks now, just curious what full bricks will do for the floor.  Should they run hotter or cooler? Harder or easier to heat?  Basically what would be the difference?
Thanks,
Scott D.

More mass will give you more heat retention, though it will take longer to heat up the thicker hearth will stay hot longer. I take it the bottom of the pizza is getting done before the top?
