I am so happy I stumbled onto this site..
I'm still in shock and don't know why I never thought of doing a pizza forum search before..I couldn't believe there was one but should of guessed there were pizza lovers out there just like me..
having lived in Brooklyn as a kid untill the age of 13 and eating some of the best pizza in the world I just took it for granted when my parents moved out to the west coast back in 67 that all pizza was the same..was I in for a culture shock
horrible garbage for a pizza lover..
as time moved on it did get better with pizza makers form NY opening up shop in the SF bayarea but it never was the same as back home..
I'm somewhat retired now after being a chef for over 30 years and working at an italian rest. for 12 years(no pizza there) but I never could duplicate the pizza crust I loved so much and I do love making homemade pizza..the crust wasn't bad, just not what I wanted..after years of research and experimentation I finally gave up..I tried just about everything and all the recipe books have the same old basic bread dough..
I have now found a new home here..just from reading here for about an hour I have already learned a great deal of what I was doing wrong..
I can't wait to get started on some dough..
I have a great simple marinera sauce recipe I'll share here soon..
I'll keep you posted as to how my first batch turns out..
My wife had to chuckle as to my excitement when I started reading here and as soon as my house is finish being built I'm looking to buillding a brick oven..whoo hooooooooo!!
