Natural Gas burners for the LBE

We're moving to a new place that we built from the ground up. Had them put a natural gas line out to the back porch so I could eventually have unlimited supply of gas for the LBE, until I'm able to finally build my dream brick oven.

Problem is, the only inexpensive natural gas burners I've found are wok burners. A local Asian supermarket sells them there (I've seen them before), so picking one up isn't a big deal, but wondering if anyone else has some tips on scoring any other kind of burners that use natural gas.

Ronzo, Tejas has alot of options available for natural gas.  I believe most of their burners are made in both natural gas and propane versions.  I have called them only once, but they were completely able to take care of my special request, without an attitude or much additional expense.  Hope this helps.

Ron, I'm confused, I understood that only propane would burn correctly in high BTU burners as the tank can deliver the amount of gas needed. Natural gas is low pressure. I don't believe that just changing the jet size will make a difference.

Yes (my current burner is a Bayou Classic). They don't make any burners that run on natural gas.

You're right about the difference in pressure (to an extent), but the info about low pressure not producing enough heat is incorrect since my current propane burner is actually a low pressure burner and I get plenty of heat.

You're better than me, Don. I couldn't find squat on their site for natural gas. That is basically the exact set up I was looking at for the wok burners.

All the conversion kits I've found are more expensive than a new burner. Of course, as Don has proven, my research may be flawed!

The link Don referenced at Reply 7  http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,13559.msg135102.html#msg135102 is about what we used in our caramel popcorn kettles.  Our burners had 16 jets.  Some of our burners were natural gas and some were propane.  At least in our burners like those that Don referenced we could control how much heat we wanted, with a regulator knob.  Our burners were contained in a stainless steel jacket.  I still have one of those burners with a jacket, if you want to see a picture.

I don’t know if that will help you or not.

I will dig though my shed tomorrow and take a picture of what the jet burner looks like.  I forget how many jets the caramel corn kettle has that I kept.  Some of them had more jets than others.  I had thought at one time about trying to convert that stainless steel kettle with jets for the heat, into some kind of pizza oven, but didn't know how to go about doing that.  I do have pictures of the caramel corn kettles, I could scan into my computer, but don't think they show the burner jets.

These are the pictures of the 2 caramel corn kettles I saved, and the picture of the one with the burner jets in.  I thought the burner I saved had more jets, but it doesn’t. The one kettle the jets must have be removed to replace on another, that didn’t work. I might have one of those other jet burners stored in cabinets in my shed, but there are too many things right now to move, to get to the cabinets. On the one kettle it did have a regulator knob that could be adjusted, by turning a knob, but on the kettle with the jet burners, there is just a place to adjust the heat with a lever.  If you look at LionsDeal, you can see what the different kinds of jet burners they have for sale.  http://www.lionsdeal.com/te-226800p.html  and just for the jets for the burners http://www.lionsdeal.com/fmp-156-1006.html   LionsDeal has all kinds of jet burners if you are interested in looking at their website.

Sorry my tool and whatnot shed is so messy, I need to houseclean it since weather is getting better in our area.  I did take the one kettle with the jet burner outside, so it could be seen better.

I don’t know if this will help you are not, in your search for jet burners.  Our jet burners could be changed with different orifices to change from propane to natural gas or the other way around.

Your price at CPAC is a lot cheaper.  I don’t remember where we bought jet burners when we needed them.
