German Pizza
« on: April 23, 2011, 02:19:48 PM »
I did a search and nobody's mentioned this.
Although its been years, when I used to go to Germany on TDYs I've had a few of their pizzas, and the thing I remember is that they don't mix the toppings!  In other words, if you order a pie with pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom, one-third of the pie has the pepperoni, one-third has the sausage, and one-third the mushroom (sauce and cheese covered the whole pie, iirc).
I was disappointed to see this the first time, but it actually is kinda neat to eat, it's almost like you're trying different pizzas and it gives the ol' taste buds a jolt.
Does anyone make pies like this?   :chef:

Sure, I've made pies with half one thing half something else. The possible combos are about endless, I would think. So in Germany, was there anything particular or unusual about the crust, sauce or cheese?

No, that one came up in my search, but didn't say anything about separating the ingredients; guess I was unclear...  :-[
