I am looking for a good pizzeria in the New London-Groton, CT area.  Wood fired brick oven preferred.  Any suggestions?

The best pizza places in the New London area are Greek New England Style pizza places. They have been around since the early 20th century. My favorite places are in Groton and Mystic. In Groton, Pizza Palace and Midway are the best. In Mystic, Angie's on the Stonington side. You won't be disappointed.

Mystic Pizza, which they made a movie about, is pretty much all hype now. It was good in the early days as "Ted's" but declined considerably when the new owners bought it in the late 70's.

I once bought a Mystic pizza "kit" (enough sauce an skins for several pizzas) at BJ's club. They were OK, sorta. They weren't Greek Style pizza though...

I don't know if they are still around but back in the day Sailors 3 pizza in New London was very good. That was a while ago in my CG days.
