Have just joined this site but have referred to it several times before reading dough recipes. I have often ordered Lou Malnatis pizza thru the mail but this time I did the pizza kit, when I opened the dough I felt it had a smell of beer. Have read many pizza dough recipes and they all seem so complex, made my own the other day love the taste but it needs a little tweaking. 4 cups bread flour, 12 not exact tablespoons of crisco solid vegetable shortening 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1 michelob ultra beer. Let sit in greased covered bowl overnight. This is enough dough for 4 9inch deep dish pizzas. I topped the dough with mozz cheese than a layer of italian sausage than I use crushed tomatoes that I strain so not to wet, finish it off with a sprinkle of parm and place on center rack of oven at 425 for about 50 minutes. I think this is the easiest and best tasteing crust I have ever made. If you have had a Lou Malnatis pizza recently I think its pretty close in taste.
