  It looked like he did very well, I have done mutch worse for mutch less...

Thanks Gene, If time permits, I will be experimenting with them again this weekend. I will try to shield the cans from heat to prevent large flames.

In my last two experiment I used 10 cans only with 2 cans under the bottom stone. Heating time to over 600 f was about 30 minutes.  I made a heat shield and 1" windguard for each fuel can and made the setup more user freindly. The fuel can temperture was about 200 F at top and 120f at the bottom of can. Flames were much smaller than in my first test.


I will share pictures or video for my next baking test which will be indoor.

Nice looking pies bert.  The MPO seems like a good oven for NY style pies.  Can you post the link, I'd like to look at your pies off the grill.  Do you get as much rim browning when you cook on the grill?

Yes for sure.  Pizza while out camping? How cool is that?

Were there any off flavors in the crust from the fuel source?

These flame are odorless... I found couple of companies that uses this type chafing fuel, ecofuelhms.com  and http://www.hollowick.com/product_detail.cfm?plid=550&catid=5748&prdid=85739

I am planning to try hollowick next, to see if they offer same heat. I think they are cheaper.

Few other possibility come to mind, tailgating, catering, ...
