They've got an app for both iPhone and Android - nothing for Blackberry, though.

Permits... cost... money... that I don't have right now.

I agree, cash is king, but personally, I rarely carry cash on me. That's why I was looking at payment methods like this. There are a lot of folks out there like me.

Understood! I am still not planning events or per piece/slice or pie sales. Maybe down the road. I like to know what I need and bring it. The leftovers are paid for too ! the catering lump sum pay me when I'm done  (and dont forget the gratutity  ) is my niche for now. I am legal though. Thats important.  Food handlers course, refrig. insurance...

The catering thing is where I want to end up. I can pick my hours - instead of being at a restaurant 24/7, and don't have to find someone to trust to run a restaurant.

I've got the food handler's certificate already. That was cheap. $10.

I'd love to eventually get a mobile WFO on a trailer.... many years off, though.

Bergen County NJ Food Handlers course was 3  1/2 Days $275.00 !! probably $25 for the instructor  per student more than paid her salary and $250 waste , pools in someones backyard, expense account, Government rules!

Unfortunately...

regulations are designed to make the government money and thwart start-ups.

The state food handler's thing is the cheapest thing about this... so I got it out of the way. The rest of the permits... not so cheap. I swear governments hate small businesses.

Wow, that is crazy! So i also was thinking about trying to run a catering business. what are a lot of those crazy requirements? Do i need my own commecBTW that is funny about government hating small businesses, i was just talking about that with my friend today and when i say funny, i mean not funny...

the pizza catering biz route may be the cheapest. aside from a state biz license ($100) and liability insurance ($500 annual), you really just need your equipment. and a killer pie recipe. I was once told that if you are preparing everything on site at a private home, the client's, you don't need a commercial kitchen.
