Barack Obama tells space station he meant to order pizza

In a scheduled call to the International Space Station, US president Barack Obama quipped he only meant to dial his local pizza parlour - not ring them.

I donít know if anyone could see the link to the article I posted before on the video, but this is the video on YouTube.

If you watch the Astronauts faces, it seems they didnít think the joke was too funny.

My investigation shows that only a post-turtle eats pizza that way.

Clearly, "Vice President Biteme" taught him to eat a slice that way.

These articles were posted over two years ago, but makes me wonder what style of pizza President Barack Obama likes best.

Some of our members may remember this thread, http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,8327.msg71803.html#msg71803, where a member solicited advice about transporting dough across the country on a plane. The member was later identified as Chris Sommers, a pizza operator out of St. Louis, who ended up with the dough in Washington, DC to make pizza for President Obama and his staff: http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/gutcheck/2009/04/pi_pizza_chris_sommers_white_house_barack_obama_st_louis_food_blog_restaurants_news_041609.php and http://obamafoodorama.blogspot.com/2009/04/politics-of-perfect-pi-pizza-guest.html. See, also, http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,8351.msg72076.html#msg72076.

It was an interesting exercise to determine how best to transport dough across the country and still have it function.

Peter,

Thanks for all those links.  I never saw them before.  It was interesting to see what happened, and you sure were the great detective like you always are.   8)

I did just send President Barack Obama a message, asking him what style of pizza he likes best, or what kind of style or toppings the First Family likes.  I donít think I will get a return mail, but it would be interesting to see what he says, if he responds.

The White House
Washington DC

July 21, 2011

Dear Ms. Knepp,
Thank you for asking about my favorite type of pizza. Like all Americans I love pizza. Living in Chicago for many years, Chicago style deep dish is my favorite. Of course, many of my largest donors live in NY, so NY style pizza is my favorite. San Francisco is also near and dear to my heart and since Neapolitian pizza is really taking off there, it is also my favorite.

Every day, millions of Americans enjoy pies from Dominoes and Pappa Johns, so they too are my favorites. And of course, since small business is the engine of our economy, mom and pop pizza is also my favorite. If I have left your favorite out, rest assured that it is also my favorite.

My opponents havenít had a good pizza idea in over 50 years. We need to move forward and have a national conversation about how we can use pizza to stop them from starving the elderly and the children. Also, I read just the other day that a pizza a day keeps the doctor away, so it also will play an important role in my plan to save Medicare.

Together we can work to end our dependence on foreign cheese and tomatoes and to stop shipping our pizza making jobs overseas. And, we can work to end the tax breaks for big pizza.

Remember, hope and change, yes we can, vote for me in 2012.

Sincerely,
President Barak Obama

Pizza is not bread.

Craig,

You sure at funny!  :-D I did really like your reply though.  I know President Barak Obama is too busy to be looking at a pizza forum, but he would be surprised at all the great pizzas that are created here.  :chef:

He's (Obama) got lots of time to read forums... he's not doing anything productive for the country as a whole.   >:D

.. and that was an excellent reply from TXCraig

Well, at least he isn't causing an uproar in New York by using a fork, like The Donald ;D

Please limit your discussions here to pizza. Per Steve, politics are not an acceptable topic for his forum. Thank you for understanding.
