If you read further down, you'll see that Robyn had issues with the mastercool, but, because these are all made in China (regardless of the brand), I think any brand is going to have an occasional dud.

I was able to score a 986 f peak temp used model for $18 on ebay, but, from a quick search, I'm not seeing anything like this for sale.  Back when I bought it last year there were about 4 auctions ending per day for this model. I guess they sold out.
