here's the oven ready to begin curing. after that, i'll add stucco, tile around the opening and a stainless landing and be ready to go.

How long does it take one of those Blazing Ovens to cure?

i planned to deliver the new trailer to my friend this weekend but ran out of time so i took the old one instead. we did a nice party of about 60 and used the event as training so he can start to figure it all out. lots to think about with dough, oven management and cooking! he'll have plenty of time to figure it out. no plans for commercial work, just having fun.

Bob, i'll let it dry for a week and then fire it with increasing temps over another week. it should be all dry by then and ready to seal up.

about to wind up V-2 trailer. after some good advice from Tom, i made an attempt at stucco with mortar based stuff instead of the polymer stuff i used last time. i may have used the wrong ingredients though. i was surprised that the "microfibers" were made of metal, and i used something called concrete bonding adhesive instead of agent. maybe it will stay on there. i'm afraid i need a second coat! like a lot of other things i seem to get involved in, this is not as easy as some people make it seem....

Metal fibers would be for refractory, the fibers for stucco are polypropylene. The steel won't hurt, but is also doesn't help that much. There are 2 types of "bonding adhesive" one of which is painted on and another which is added to the mix. Most will work for both.

polypropylene was what i was expecting. i had a half a day lined up and decided to go ahead. i hope it stays on there! i'll either do another smooth(er) coat or just go with the other sealer stuff you told me about. i appeciate your help Tom.

i finally delivered V2 this weekend after several scheduling setbacks and delays. My friend has been keeping V1 in the meantime so he's gotten his feet wet already. We cooked a few pizzas last night. A chef friend came over and put together a couple non standard pies with chimichura and pork loin. I used Omid's heat shield trick for the first time and although i couldn't really measure the temp difference, it seemed to have a nice effect as i had no bottom burning problems for the first time with that oven. Great results on both your pies and the ovens, I commend you.

Might I add, that sure is some beautiful country where you live. I bet once the oven is fired up and you've had a glass of wine or two you can lose track of time quickly amid all of that tranquility.
