Ledo's Pizza

Back in the early 1970's I found the best pizza I ever had in my life.  It was Ledo's on University Blvd in Silver Spring Maryland.  There was always a long line outside the restaurant and the take-out shop.  Strangely I can't even remember what it tasted like but I still lusted for it.  A check of the location several years ago showed that Ledo's was no longer there.  Then last night I chanced upon it during one of my googles. 

THIS IS THE SEARCH RESULTS THAT GOT ME GOING:
"The original Lido's pizza can be found at TJ Elliot's Restaurant in Bowie, Md on Rt. 197 in Bowie Plaza. This is not the franchised Lido's place. This is a restaurant owned by the original family who owned Lidos in College Park. They have great pizza. "  NOTE:  This lady has it spelled wrong - it's Ledo's not Lido's.

I'm planning a trip next week to see if the taste is a good as my memory.  In the meanwhile has anyone out there in pizza land tried this pizza.  Here is a link to the restaurant site.  I'll try their fire roasted pizza also.  In fact their entire menu looks tempting.

The Original Ledo restaurant is still in the same location that it's been since 1955 and is still owned and operated by Tommy Sr., Tommy Jr. and Jimmy. http://www.ledorestaurant.com.

Good to hear from you!  I'm sorry I gave out some bogus info by saying that Ledo's was no longer at  the University Blvd address.  I think someone gave some wrong information a many years back.  I think the confusion  entered when I inquired thinking the address was University Blvd. Silver Spring, Md and it's actually University Blvd. Adelphi, Md.

I left Silver Spring in 1975 and moved to Alexandria, Virginia making numerous plans to visit Ledo's but even tho it's not reallly that far plans fell through.  Some where along the line I asked about Ledo's and was informed that  they were no longer in business.  When I think about it that didn't seem possible because anytime I went to Ledo's there was a long line waiting outside to get in.  It didn't seem to matter what day of the week!!

I still own a house in Alexandria, VA and I'll be heading your way tuesday (July 19) .  I'll have to decide if I want to stop at the Adelphi or the Bowie location.   Any suggestions?
