iPhone posting?
« on: November 19, 2011, 11:00:05 AM »
Anybody know how to add pics from an iPhone to the forum? Trying to get involved in this forum, but without ability to show pics, it's not fun for anyone...

Would like to know if this is possible as well. I've tried before but it doesn't let you.

I was following a thread started by a gentleman from Israel who mentioned that he was able to upload pictures straight from his iPhone.  I don't use a computer much, the phone would be super convenient.

Yes, but your tag is all messed up and it may be working only because my browser recognizes a URL even if it isn't anchored correctly. Are you using the "Insert Hyperlink" button?  Here is what your link should look like:

I prefer that you upload (attach) your images instead of providing links. First, it looks nicer having the images displayed with your post, and second, we never have to worry about the image disappearing if/when it gets deleted on some remote website (i.e., if it's attached here, the image will always be available).

Totally agree with Steve. Many forums are full of dead photo links.

Don't have a working computer at the moment. I'm playing around with my iPhone to see if I can post pictures from it. Hyperlink the only way I've been able to accomplish at the moment. Any ideas to do it differently?

Works fine from my BlackBerry. Make sure your image size is less than 128KB.

iPhone (IOS 5) does not seem to support this. The "Choose file" button in Safari is disabled.

Well, that's a real bummer. If the button is ghosted then you won't be able to upload images.

Does the iPhone support any other browsers?

Searching the SMF site, it appears that Opera and Skyfire don't work either. It's got to be an Apple thing since it works fine with my BlackBerry. I'll try it from my wife's Droid later tonight.

There are several 3rd party browsers, but I would guess they use the same Webkit/API. IOS doesn't have an exposed file system, so a browser would have to be aware that pressing that "choose" button would need to be linked to the photo library.  But ya never know.

I think I would have to jail break my phone to get the phone to accept a different browser, and that would void my warranty.

No, there are approved browsers such as Opera Mini in the Apple App Store. Maybe you could give it a try.

Not sure what to say... it's clearly an Apple issue at this point. I'll keep my eyes open for a solution.
