This is a slice from a shop in SF called LittleStar Pizza. It has been getting rave reviews from the locals so I thought I would give it a go.
The crust was quite crispy. They definitely used quite a bit of oil in their recipe, butter also. Here is what Ed levine had to say about this pie:
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/04/06/FDGIMC0PAO1.DTL"This is head and shoulders above Zachary's," Levine proclaimed, snapping into the buttery, crisp crust.
This is the Chicago crust we were looking for, made with a blend of vegetable oil, butter and olive oil.
Of Zachary's (which I believe is much closer to buzz's Giordano's recipe) he said:
"Taste this crust,It tastes like a dinner roll."
I have never had a 'real' Chicago pizza, but I far prefer the biscuit-like crust of Zachary's in Oakland to this one.
Does this look like any of the other popular crusts from Chicago.
