I have been living in Marin county, California but am originally from Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. My benchmarks for pizza are Papa Dels and Monicals. I am still trying to understand this California pizza concept (barbeque chicken and shrimp on a pizza, really?) but i would welcome any suggestions for a place that would at least suggest what i am missing from back home. I know Zacharys well, but it is a bit too far to be a regular stop. Cafe Reyes in Pt. Reyes Station is another favorite for wood fired pizza, but it too is just not the same.
The locals here just don't understand what I am looking for.
