What is a good source for a Chicago style pizza pan?
« on: August 01, 2005, 05:11:58 PM »
I mean truly the right pan, not a "suitable substitute".
I never see in a store what I think the pan should be.  Do you all go to restaurant supply stores or something?
Can anyone point me to an online source?

thanks for all the help!

Also, is cast iron cookware essentially the same?  I see aluminum, PSTK (some proprietary coating), I have cast iron, is one better than the other?

thanks again.... !!

youonlylivetwice,

Our members have achieved good results using all of the types of pans you mentioned--aluminum, PSTK (or similar coatings) and cast iron. I personally like the PSTK pans such as sold at pizzatools.com, my favorite supplier. I'm not sure they sell to individuals anymore, but you may want to check. In any event you may want to take a look at the different types and sizes of pans they carry just to get an idea of what you might want to buy when you find the right source.

You might also find the following threads of value in your quest for the "right" pan:

After posting the last message, I called pizzatools (Lloyd Industries) to get clarification of their sales practices since their website indicates "business to business sales only" and "no sales to the public".

The customer service person I spoke with said that anyone can order items from the pizzatools.com website. They will also answer questions about their products over the phone. What they cannot do is take orders over the telephone. I was told that they are not staffed to do this. I have always ordered online from pizzatools, so that hasn't been a problem for me. I will caution everyone, however, that their products are not the cheapest. But they are of very high quality and are so recognized by the pizza trade for whom the pizzatools products are primarily intended.

I can verify this. I just received a cutter pan from them last week.
