« on: January 25, 2012, 05:16:43 PM »
Hi,

I just got a new pizza peel and it is raw wood - no type of seal. Should i put some kind of seel on it before i use it ?

Sincerely,

My recommendation would be no.  Raw wood seems to launch a pizza easier than sealed or finished wood. Just make sure you use wood for launching and metal for retrieving.  If you do that, the wood peel won't ever get all that dirty and you can clean it with some light sandpapering.

FWIW I agree with Scott. No real reason to seal and the raw wood surface with a bit of corn meal or semolina works well for a smooth launch.
