Pizza Preview: Don Antonio in Midtown Manhattan

I don’t understand why the picture of the WFO’s inside would make Tom’s blood boil.  Could you explain what you meant?

Sorry to detract from this thread, and the mods can delete it if necessary, and I might be putting my foot in my mouth, and...

I am sick of reading the "s" word from this author.  If I want to read vulgarity, it shouldn't be on Slice, nor should this potty mouth author be linked to from here.

I am no tea totaller, but there is a time and place for everthing.  Would any of the authors guest from My SLice Monday, or the hot seat care to step up and comment ?  Don't get me wrong, I have a plank in my eye that should be removed first, but what is the use of the vulgarity?

The picture there now is the EXACT same picture (with the Keste logo airbrushed off) as on the keste website.

Yup, the pic I saw earlier was of a beautiful lady.  Now there is just some random dude holding a pizza...

JK, they are both artistic photos.  Gene, what am I missing?  I don't read his posts or articles often, but where did you see the "S" word?

ahh yes on the facebook page.  i was really suprised to see something like that as a homepage for a restaraunt.  strange clash of food and nudity.

I saw the lady 1st time i looked at site? shes gone now, and there was No perforated peel

I ate dinner here last night. The service was not great, but I'll give them another chance-it was opening night and pretty busy. The waiters take your order and input it into an iPad, so they get a free pass until they learn the system. The restaurant has its liquor license already, which is great, although there are only two wine selections: "red or white." I was told the list would expand in the next few weeks.

We had the fried pizza special and a "lasagna" pie. The fried pie was interesting, I'd like to try it again with regular cheese instead of the smoked buffalo. The lasagna pie was awesome. The ricotta was really great. The pies were running about 2:00 to cook, I thought this was a bit long but what do I know.

I have never been to Keste, so I don't know how it stacks up, but I'll say this was very good. I'm glad to have it in the neighborhood.

Don Antonio himself was in the kitchen with a smile. He was showing his Pizzaoli apprentice how not to totally screw up a skin. There's also a cool photo on the wall of the Don with the Pope.

I admire craftsmanship but the bottom line is that if it holds a fire, it is all good.  I would not pay what they paid for that oven though.  Note also that the lack of craftsmanship in the oven appears to be the assembler, not the builder.
