Starita has been for years a local joint only known to people in its own neighborhood.
In the last years he gained popularity IN THE TRADE by advertising himself through the association he works for.
By doing that he became popular outside Napoli and mostly within the industry.
Therefore, today he is becoming a "place to visit" for foreigns and that's why I said touristy.
As mentioned most neapolitan don't even know where Starita is.
In my original post I was trying to propose places that are destination for neapolitan and not for Tourists and foreign bloggers.
I proposed Michele because (even being a touristic place) he is real institution when it comes Neapolitan Pizza.
If you go in Napoli to eat Pizza, you have to go to Da Michele as if you are Catholic and go in Rome you have to go to the Vatican.
Pellone instead is a favorite by locals.
Someone else mentioned Salvo. That is also a fantastic place very well known to neapolitan.
