I just started fishing, and don't have a clue what I am doing.  But here is my last catch this past weekend on the back side of Anacapa Island.

Wow Craig.  That must be quite a thrill!  I hope to hit a couple of small streams on Friday.  A 12-inch brown would be a prize!  It's all relative I guess. ;D

I actually prefer trout fishing.

Some awesome action, @Craig, that looks outstanding. I live right near the Hudson River just south of Albany, NY, and the stripper run has started. Unfortunately, I won't get out this year,  just had a knee replacement surgery. Hope to get out later in the season for some St. Lawrence River smallmouth.

Took the Tenkara rod up to the Big Thompson on Friday.  It's very narrow canyon and a small stream.  Gail force winds ripping down the Canyon all morning but there were small browns laying behind rocks sipping something I could even see off the surface.  I finally got a few on a #22 Griffin's Gnat.  Pretty little fish.  It's not fun trying to deal with a #22 dry fly in that much wind!  Gave up early......forgot camera. I'll try remember the camera next week.

Craig

Nice fish, you're making me jealous. I have just started to assemble some of my tackle and hope to uncover my boat and get it rigged up this week. I'm almost 8 weeks out from my knee replacement and the doc told me to do what I like to do as long as it doesn't hurt my knee. That means that I may pack up and head to the St. Lawrence River for opening day of the bass season. Reports from some of my fishing acquaintances is that the bite has been good and some big smallmouth are being caught pre spawn. Can't wait to slide the boat off the trailer and into the water. What do the boys like best, fishing or pizza?

Probably fishing - more action for them. On the other hand it's a lot more work too with cleaning the boat and all.

Got out for the first time Friday, couple of small bass, nothing to write home about. Thankfully I didn't have to Bust Out Another THousand for this trip. Smallmouth bass spawn seems to be over already here in the great northeast.

Nice goin' guys, I'm green with envy. I was out for a boat ride with my kids today on the Hudson River and was marking a ton of fish all over. The 40 foot range looks especially promising, but no telling what they were. Hoping to maybe be on the St. Lawrence later in the week if all goes well. Smallmouth should be active and plentiful.

Southern Ontario. Just a couple hours North of the border. A couple small lakes where it is not uncommon for us to be the only people to fish them all year. The nearest town in Upsala.

The St. Lawrence boarders southern Ontario, but I know you can be in some pretty remote areas in a short time. Not familiar with Upsala, I'll have to look that up. Good luck, too bad you couldn't hit the St. Lawrence while you're so close.
