NY water idea - any budding entrepreneurs out there?
« on: March 23, 2012, 04:52:19 PM »
With all this discussion recently about marketing spin and Italian and NY water, it got me thinking. Perhaps there is an ide for us to make some money.

Grimaldi's is pushing the NY water spin. This is on their website: "It has been said that the secret to true New York-style pizza is the water. Grimaldi's believes that too, going to great lengths to keep the integrity of the water used in the Brooklyn pizzeria by hiring a chemist to analyze and recreate the mineral content and exact composition of the water. A custom water system pumping "New York water" is installed in every Grimaldi's Pizzeria to ensure that the dough tastes as authentically New York as possible."   http://www.grimaldis.net/aboutus.html

It occurred to me that we could offer this to every pizza place without the need for a "custom water system pumping 'New York water.'"

If it's about trace mineral content of the water, why not add the trace minerals to the flour? All you have to do is use our flour and RO water, and presto - pizza chemically identical to NY. Saying pizza made this way is made with NY water wouldn't be any more of a stretch that baking in an electric oven with a brick facade and calling it "brick oven pizza."

Just a thought...

It's the water, no, it's the yeast, no, it's the flour, no, it's the oven, no, it's the tomatoes, no, it's the cheese, no, it's the Person Making The Pizza!

How about harvesting the sweat from the brows of genuine pizzaiola's .
Now there's a secret ingredient that doesn't get talked about much.

I'll bet a savy operator could make it a topping...  would you like EXTRA sweat with that pie, sir ?
