Chuckie Cheese Birthday Party for my grandson
« on: March 31, 2012, 06:27:15 PM »
My grandsonís favorite food is pizza, and he wanted to have his birthday party at Chuckie Cheese.  My grandsons parents decided to invite only close family for my grandsons birthday party at Chuckie Cheese.  I have fond memories of Chuckie cheese, but havenít been there for many years.

The birthday party was supposed to be late yesterday afternoon, but someone became ill, so the party was cancelled until today at noon.  I still like Chuckie Cheese pizzas, but sure not as much as I once did.  To almost make matters almost worse last evening when the party was cancelled until today, my oldest daughter took me out to dinner at the Press Room.  http://pressroomrestaurant.com/ I never tried their pizza at the Press Room before, http://pressroomrestaurant.com/dinner_pizza.html and almost couldnít resist trying it, but somehow I managed to order something other than pizza.  Some of the people were ordering pizzas before the show at the Fulton Theatre and they sure looked good to me.

It was a lot of fun for my grandson and great-granddaughter at Chuckie Cheese today.  We were there for a long while, but it sure brought back good memories.

This was a video taken today for old times sake of the band performing.

Craig,

That birthday party was a fun time. We had a great time playing games with the children and watching them. I even had my picture taken in one of those darn machines with my daughter, just for fun.  :P I also liked those pizza trays and really looked them over.  I donít remember seeing those at Chuckie Cheese before, but it has been such a long while that I had been there, they might have had the same pizza trays.  I guess the purpose of those pizza tray are so the bottom doesnít get soggy.  I had to chuckle when you said you would eat the pepperoni one for sure.  :-D

I'd have a slice of each and a mess of wings.  Took my 2 yr old daughter there years ago and she was frightened by the giant rat!

Chau,

Glad to hear you would try a slice of both pizzas and a mess of wings.  I tasted two wings, and they were decent.  My grandson is also frightened by Chuckie.  I wonder if you daughter is still frightened by the giant rat.

You have the cutest grandson dressed up for his party. My daughter is 8 months and can't wait until she is excited for her own birthday.

Jeff,

Thanks for saying my grandson looked cute dressed up for his party.  You will have loads of fun when your daughter gets old enough to be excited for her own party.  :) Children grow up so fast. I remember I was there for the birth of my grandson in Brooklyn, NY and that seemed like such a short time ago.  I took loads of pictures at the birthday party and captured some of the nicest expressions on my grandsons and great-granddaughters faces.  Children are always so interesting and innocent.

Bill,

Glad to hear you children also enjoy Chuckie Cheese and all those games.  ;D  I donít know how much money my grandson and great-granddaughter went though in playing all those games, but it sure must have been a lot.  We all did have a great time, especially the children.

Do you think the pictures I posted of the pizzas looked anything like you remember from awhile ago?  I canít remember what they looked like or how they tasted before. I read on the web before we went to Chuckie Cheese that they were supposed to change or improve their pizzas, http://www.thedailymeal.com/look-chuck-e-cheese-s-new-pizza but now canít really remember how their pizzas tasted the last time I was there.  I couldnít see much where they prepared their pizzas at Chuckie Cheese, because that was mostly behind a wall. The last time I was at Chuckie Cheese was probably about 10 years ago with my one other granddaughter.  Before that we went to Show Biz Pizza, which was something like Chuckie Cheese.

Norma,

Many years back,I went to Chuck e Cheese with some friends and their kids, and I recall the pizza being alot like elementary school cafeteria pizza. The nasty, soft, square pizzas most of us craved at school when we were kids.
 :-D

As an adult,I found it horrible and barely edible. But as a Kid,every Friday at elem school,it was the greatest lunch day.
 :pizza:

Fast forward to the present day,the pizza is much better than I remember it.Also, one of the CeC I went to were serving a chicken parm sub there.I tried it and was surprised it was decent. That was in Indianapolis. Here in Southern KY,they don't offer it at CeC.I guess the menu and possible the Pizza will vary at locations.

 :)

Gosh Bill, I remember that friggin' pizza from elementary school.  You described it perfect.  White, dense, soft, pale crust that was barely warm.  That weird cheese that was barely melted.  But as kids, yeah good stuff.  Other favorite foods from childhood cafeteria memories:  We had burritos with that orange sauce (which is suppose to simulate enchilada sauce).  Their stuffed sopapillas stuffed with that gooey bean paste was pretty good as well.  And gold bars, who could forget those?  Rice crispy peanut butter bars with chocolate over the top.  Man! that was so long ago, but seems like yesterday in a way.   :(

Bill,

Your story is funny about Chuckie Cheese and you pizza at elementary school!  :-D Chicken parm sub just goes with your screen name!  ;D

Thanks for telling me how you think about Chuckie Cheese pizzas now.  I thought they were decent and slightly crispy on the bottom.  Maybe the pizza trays or new way they make their pizzas help.
