I can't wait to see the commercial.
Jokes aside, this does go to show how prevalent the view that pizza is an American dish really is around the globe. Living in America we sometimes forget that pizza is considered American just as much as it is considered Italian. And putting hot dogs in the crust makes it even *more* American.
If pizza were considered Japanese this would be like putting sushi in the crust. Or if it were considered Mexican, refried beans in the crust. Or if it were considered French, some product that encapsulates enthusiastic surrender into the crust. Probably like a laxative or something is the only thing that comes to mind.
I'm sure I could think of some actual parallels in American dining where we butcher someone else's cuisine by going overboard, but none come to mind immediately. I'll think of some later.
