Pretty much confirms what everyone already knew.  Americans simply have much better taste when it comes to food than the British.

:-D. Don't knock it till you try it David.  Alrighty then, who's gonna be the first on the forum to make a hotdog stuffed crust pizza?   :-D

This shows that there isn't anything these commercial chains won't do to make a buck.

I doubt it, otherwise they would need different length weiners for different sized pizzas.

I can see it now, the $12 hot dog at the baseball game just went to $25 because it comes with a pizza.  ::)

First of all, if you're eating that, you don't have a six pack, more like a 1-pack. Secondly, For me personally I just can't flip the pizza --> hot dog switch. If I am in the mood for pizza, I need pizza with seasoned spicy meats on it. If I want a hot dog, I am more of a relish/mustard kinda dude, so it just sounds 180 degrees from each other. What they should do is supplement that rim with an antacid or Imodium (aka pooper stiffer) for the ensuing diarhea that will follow.

Get a dog. He will always take the half you don't want and say thank you!

I'm pretty sure my lab fantasizes about a hot dog / pizza combo!!  He lives for pizza nights because he knows he'll get some leftovers, someone's always slipping him crusts or tossing him pieces.  The addition of hot dogs would put it over the top for him!!

I can't wait to see the commercial.

Jokes aside, this does go to show how prevalent the view that pizza is an American dish really is around the globe.  Living in America we sometimes forget that pizza is considered American just as much as it is considered Italian.  And putting hot dogs in the crust makes it even *more* American.

If pizza were considered Japanese this would be like putting sushi in the crust.  Or if it were considered Mexican, refried beans in the crust.  Or if it were considered French, some product that encapsulates enthusiastic surrender into the crust.  Probably like a laxative or something is the only thing that comes to mind.

I'm sure I could think of some actual parallels in American dining where we butcher someone else's cuisine by going overboard, but none come to mind immediately.  I'll think of some later.

I myself am wondering how sliced hotdogs as a topping will go over with my customers. Alejandra tells me Mexicans like it on pizza. We'll see..........

See I think I could agree with that. In italian sausage you have mostly black pepper and fennel, both of which are almost always somewhere in pizza. It's also a common topping on pizza. Makes much more sense to me.

Although a Brit will tell you just how far they have come gastronomically , in the last 10 years, Gordon Ramsey and all that...they managed to spend the last few _centuries_ avoiding the influences of their neighbors.
France is a good swim away, Italy not much further....yet they managed to absorb the foods and flavors of the Germans.

This should be a big hit.
