I also posted videos at Mackís Pizza and Manco and Manco at Reply 992 http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,9068.msg181228.html#msg181228 of how the pieman opened the dough balls two at a time and also the piemen tossing the skins.

Norma, thanks for sharing your pictures.  I like a crispy slice.  They all look great, especially the first and
last (Sam's and Manco?), both look like the kinda of bottom crust that I like.   Of the 3 which was the crispiest?  Can you rank them in order of most favorite?  I'm sure they were all good.

Chau,

Samís, Mackís and Manco and Manco pizza was all good and crispy.  I would have to say Samís crust was the crispest.  For my tastes Mackís would be number one, Manco and Manco number two and Samís number three.

All three pizza businesses started back in the 1950ís.  I never tasted Samís or Manco and Manco pizzas before, and also ate Mackís pizza exclusively whenever I visited the shore, so that is why Saturday I decided to also try Samís and Manco and Manco.  All three pizza businesses started from owners that lived in Trenton, NJ.  I probably am biased, and sure donít know which are the best slices, but Mackís pizza is still my favorite.  Mackís is probably my favorite of all NY style pies I have ever eaten.  I donít know if that comes from nostalgic reasons, or if Mackís pizza really is that good.  As a child I also ate Mackís pizza when it was still being baked in a deck oven.  I really liked the crust at Samís and also at Manco and Manco.  Samís Pizza reminds me of a pizzeria that used to be good in our area called Papa Dinoís.  Manco and Manco also was really good.  They all had crisp crusts on Saturday.

These links are about Samís, Mackís and Manco and Manco pizzas.

Manco and Manco http://www.mancospizza.com/about.php

Mackís http://www.funchase.com/Images/Macks/MacksPizzaPg1.htm

I like the cheese on Mackís and Manco and Manco better than Samís.

This is a review on Slice from Adam Kuban about Samís and Mackís pizza http://slice.seriouseats.com/archives/2006/08/in_wildwood_new_jersey_its_macks_vs_sams.html

As can be seen in that article there are at least as many pizzerias in Wildwood as there are in any given street in Manhattan.  As can been seen in those links of the photos Samsís bottom crust didnít look like what I had at Samís.

Few other foods I ate when I visited Wildwood and Ocean City and a few more pics.  I didnít take pictures of all the food I ate, but it was way too much. Maybe all the walking on the boards and the beach did help some.  :)

I always enjoy the beach, boardwalk, salty ocean air, food on the boardwalk and the seagulls.

Norma,

Great job on the reviews.  Please tell me you had Curley's fries though? hahahahahah

Do you think we can put to rest that Mack's, and Manco and Manco are definitely not the same pizzas now?  I have been saying that they are totally different tasting pies.  Your frozen slices show it a lot also.  I think there is a lot of Nostalgia going on here too.  I grew up having Sam's as my favorite.  Everyone loved either Sam's or Mack's, that was it!

Then later in life I was introduced to M&M which has become my number one by a landslide.  Looking at your pics has my mouth watering right now!!!!!!  Thanks again for all of this Norma.

desant89,

I did have Curleyís fries, fudge, saltwater taffy and other junk food, but just didnít want anyone to think I was a pig. :-D

Although I thought Mackís and Manco and Manco were similar pies, I agree they donít taste the same.  Even Mackís slices I ate were different this time when I visited.  I can understand now how there are so many different reviews of Mackís and Manco and Manco.

jkb,

Lol, maybe this will even haunt you more.   :-D

That darn tran car can sure be annoying, but after a long day walking and spending time on the beach, sometimes they can be a blessing if you are tired and at the other end of the boardwalk to be able to get back quicker.  I haven't taken the tram cars a lot, but when I was really tired, I did ride them.   :-D  Sometimes with all the people on the boardwalk it is hard even to get out of the way of a tram car.  I guess it all adds to the enjoyment of Wildwood.   ;D

My oldest daughter is even going to Wildwood with friends this weekend.  Guess I don't get to go along this time.  Have to stay home and take care of the animals.  :'(
