High Quality Pizza Stones
« on: May 13, 2012, 10:02:19 PM »
California Pizza Stones
Our Pizza Stones are rough and rugged. They are made of a high grade Non-Toxic Mullite/Cordierite mixture, containing a very high quantity of grog. This makes our Baking Stones virtually indestructible and impervious to thermal shock.

Currently we have 36 different sizes and we will custom any of them to the perfect size for you personal need. We are coming out with 5 new larger and thicker sizes too.

I really wish I lived where I could pick one of these bad boys up. I have the money for the stone but do not have the money to ship the thing since it is almost as high as the stone itself. Damn pizza stones for being so heavy! :-D

Find a local pottery supply place, and get a cordierite kiln shelf. Same thing... much cheaper!

I'm serious...jus paid half their price on a 21 in. round 3/4 " ......seen it as high as $72 though so let the buyer beware... ;)

This chit is tough man, can't you tell.........Cordierite (mineralogy) or iolite (gemology) is a magnesium iron aluminium cyclosilicate. Iron is almost always present and a solid solution exists between Mg-rich cordierite and Fe-rich sekaninaite with a series formula: (Mg,Fe)2Al3(Si5AlO18) to (Fe,Mg)2Al3(Si5AlO18).[2] A high temperature polymorph exists, indialite, which is isostructural with beryl and has a random distribution of Al in the (Si,Al)6O18 rings.[3]        :-D

California Pizza Stones

Please compare the density and porosity of your Cordierite stones to others on the market as they relate to final baked product.

Just a quick follow up, I've had my stone for just over a year now. No cracks. Great thermal mass, stays nice and hot. I really love this stone.  :)

Just saw this thread. I live in Santa Rosa and have visited Calif Pizza Stone. I went there to ask questions. The folks there were extremely helpful . Pre customer service GREAT. I will buy a stone from them when needed.
