Xtra, not sure what your goal is. Scott is certainly the expert. If you are concerned about the heat loss when you open the hood to load and unload, I had some success last year with making a small block, so that I could prop the hood open 2 or 3 inches to load and unload. It was much better than when you open the hood all the way and let out all the heat. OTOH, you would get better results if you put in a source to capture and reflect the heat, like a stone, a few inches above the pizza stone.
