"Wierd" Food pairings

Sorry, I have been wanting to get this off my chest for a while.  Every since I can remember I have always eaten these things together, and I still do. Cole slaw and potato salad (one on top of the other) equal of each with every bite.  Non buttered toast dipped in OJ. My all time fave: yellow corn and cottage cheese (heavily peppered)

Anyone else?

Gene, if you look a little closer at your pairings, they're a little less "weird' than you think.

Traditional creamy cole slow is pretty much just cabbage and mayo and creamy potato salad is potato and mayo, so really, all you're talking about is cabbage, potato and mayo.  You don't get any more of a classic food combo than cabbage and potato.

Toast dipped in OJ sounds a bit interesting texturally, but, from a flavor perspective, millions of people around the world enjoy orange marmalade on toast.

It's a bit of a stretch, but if you modify the corn a bit and make a tortilla, corn and cheese is all over the place in Tex Mex cuisine.  I've also seen corn and paneer in curries- Paneer and cottage cheese are extremely similar.

For me, I like pepperoni and unsalted peanut butter.

Actually wrote this down in High School after a good night of the mean green. So genius, how could  I not?

It has failed to make any menu of mine, but I still do like it.

I have tried PB, pickles and mayo before, but never with the Velveeta and Nestle Quick.

 I invited a fellow boat captain to join us one time on an offshore fishing charter. I was the captain for the charter boat, But like sometimes to work the cockpit while trolling. We had a good bite early in the day, before lunchtime. 2 nice Wahoo, And 6 dolphin fish (not "flipper" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahi-mahi) in the fishbox. The bite slowed down and the clients started to eat their lunch, that they had brought. My buddy comes out from the salon and into the cockpit, after the charter clients are halfway through eating. And he's eating a, peanutbutter and onion sandwich. The onion slice was nearly 3/4in thick, and the peanutbutter would goo from the sides while he bit into it. Three of the four charter clients hurled the lunch they just ate over the side. We released 2 sailfish in the afternoon, which was the saving grace. I still got paid and tipped well.

Not sure how weird this is, but it happens often around here.  Left over fresh mozz, a potato chip and a bit of Chile Garlic Sauce.  Crunchy, creamy, salty, sweet, fermented.  IMHO, rates right up there with the Beer Nut as an almost perfect food........
