I've been thinking of getting a Hearthkit for quite a while. I've read all the positive reports (as well as the neutral ones) and have been searching on eBay, etc. for a deal on one. $200 plus shipping just seems like too much.
I was just up in New Hampshire at my Mother-In-Law's house and paid a visit to the King Arthur store in Norwich VT. Right inside the front door was a stack of Heartkits with a "Special Sale" sign--all sizes $99. Here was my chance so I bought one - the 20.5 inch model. I haven't tried it yet but am looking forward to seeing if it improves the state of my art.
I now own 3 pizza stones plus this monster, plus the commercial 10-qt mixer I bought at an auction, plus several pizza peels... My wife is ready to send me to the funny farm.
I don't know if the King Arthur Baker's Store mail order is doing the same sale, but if anyone wants one of these it wouldn't hurt to ask them.
