Does BEER really compliment a pizza?

Yeah I've seen it both ways too. I have some friends who are all about the status of the bottle, and others who will drink anything regardless of cost. But I also know people who won't touch anything under $100 a bottle. As though the price determines the taste.

Despite the wine snobbery, it is quite refreshing to run into folks who are very well versed in wine and are in it just to share the same passion as you describe. I am just glad the beer crowd isn't so snobbish. There's usually just two camps, those who drink Budweiser and those who will drink anything but Budweiser.

Yep.  But I have seen people drink Bud an tell me they don't like it....but the rest of the guys at the shop drink it so....     talk about snobbery!  Ha!!

One time during a European trip I saw a bottle of wine selling for $3500 euros. I asked about it and was told it had been blessed by the pope. Seriously... the wine snobs buy into that?  

You can spend multiples of that on a bottle of DRC or Petrus - not blessed by anybody

I like wine, but only in small amounts, and usually not expensive.  A good deep red table wine usually suffices for me.  Beer-wise I drink everything.  For Craig's Margarita, I want a Shiner Ruby-red, for most of his others, a Fireman's Four.
